CabestanIn the world of watches, time moves slowly, but it was waiting always for solar energy to power its movement. This groundbreaking technology has found home in Sol Invictus, the world’s first commercial utilization of this groundbreaking technology.

This great technology has found home in Sol Invictus which is the world’s first commercial utilization of this groundbreaking technology. This refined timepiece has come from the house of Cabestan that has brought us the Nostromo watch “grown in space.”

The masterpiece has bought vertical tourbillon from the WTV and drums and combined both of them with a revolutionary new technique for producing and treating silicium crystals that can be used to produce highly efficient solar cells suitable for low luminosity and  small surfaces.

The combined craftsmanship of Marc Alfieri and Jean-François Ruchonnet succeeded in placing this impressive vertical Cabestan movement in this center of the timepiece, where they added two solar panels mounted in metal frames perfectly held in place at 6 o’clock and 12 o’clock. With the price tag of $560,000 and this amazing system is based on the designs of 19th-century scientist Léon Foucault.

4nThis timepiece is crafted by the brand called 4N and the watchmaker has weirdly named the masterpiece the 4N-MVT01/D01/42. The 4N watch is manually wound, the hours and minutes are supposed to be jumping hours and minutes that allow a steady surge of power from the movement to move the disc without affecting the rate of the movement.

Features of the 4N watch

A wide screen
Made up of 18k white gold, platinum, along with the movement made mostly of aluminum, titanium alloys and carbon fiber

The 4N watch will be available in a limited edition of just 16 units, but there is no words about its launch date and pricing.

Atmos 566 Clock with envious looks attracts you

Posted by admin On January - 27 - 2010

Atmos 566This Atmos 566 Clock really attracts me as I can not count the number of its outstanding looks. This Jaeger-LeCoultre Atmos 566 Clock is designed by Marc Newson and there is no watch to compare with it.

The watch is driven by the energy supplied by infinitely small successive changes in temperature. This is all because of the hermetically sealed capsule that contains a gaseous mixture and initially mercury, that dilates when the temperature rises and contracts when it drops. But the mechanism is very complex to explain, the language of time is easier to understand through its pure design which exalts its inherent complexity. It is made from clear or blue Baccarat crystal and telling the time it also displays a current sky map.

Jaeger-LeCoultre combining design, art and manufacturing expertise have just offered 76 units of the masterpiece. Only 76 of the Atmos 566s are available there. About the price tag, the most basic Atmos start from $2600 and extends the range to almost $70,600.

I have really become a fan of jaeager lecoultre watches.

Posted by admin On January - 20 - 2010

Panerai Mare NostrumOne of the bigger watch events, the annual Geneve event, SIHH or the Salon Internationalde la Haute Horlogerie celebrates its 20th anniversary some days ago. The event, currently in its 20th iteration that gathers 19 different brands (IWC, JLC, GP, Richard Mille, Cartier and many others).  It is obvious to expect fine watch making from the exhibiting brands.

Among the list of the exhibiting brands, one of the most longest established and prestigious Swiss watch manufacturers, Panerai has released the reissue of Panerai Mare Nostrum to be launched at SIHH 2010.

Panerai Mare Nostrum include the features of a monstrous 52mm dial and is reported as being based on a hand-wound Minerva chronograph movement, dubbed the Panerai OP XXV caliber. MB&F HM2-SV Watch Unveiled

Posted by admin On January - 14 - 2010

HM2-SV watchRecently, the HM2-SV has introduced which is a teaser shot of the upcoming Sapphire Vision version of the MB&F HM2 watch. This unique aspect of the watch is the large 3.6mm thick sapphire crystal that serves as the front plate of the watch in lieu of metal. Its result is an ability to see the MB&F automatic movement that powers the double faced timepiece.

The right dial has jumping hours and a retrograde minute scale while the left dial of the watch displays the date and a moon phase indicator. Only 25 of this watch will be made there. Whereas this limited edition volume is not unheard of, it is relatively low given how popular MB&F watches are in high-end watch lover circles.

The problem is the sapphire crystal as there are so hard to make. During the process of making them, three out of four crystals break that takes 55 hours for the crystal alone to break. The hardest part for the screws is drilling the hopes. The back plate of the watch is in titanium while the automatic rotor is 22k gold in its iconic battle ax shape.

So, here are full images of this watch that shows the incredibly complex large sapphire crystal plate over the watch in its full glory.

So, I think this is an awesome watch from the world of high horology.

Automatic Chronograph GMT Watch announced by Davidoff

Posted by admin On January - 12 - 2010

Davidoff-automatic-chronograph-gmt-watchToday one of my friends had informed me that Davidoff launched another subtle and handsome timepiece which deserves more credit that it will get. Its oval shaped steel case is a nice aspect of the design. It is 46mm wide and water resistant to 50 meters.

In this Gent automatic chronograph GMT Watch, there is an AR coated sapphire crystal over the dial of the watch and another sapphire crystal over the movement on the rear of that shows a view to the Davidoff personalized automatic rotor.

Its style features not seemingly original are pleasant from the partially skeletonized lugs to the interesting textures and engravings on the dial and chapter ring. The design seems for me to be borrowed from one place or another but the mosaic of elements is satisfying nothing. Its brown alligator strap works well with the steel as well as gray tones of the dial and there is that almost important splash of red on the dial.

The movement is a Swiss automatic Valjoux 7750 with a Soprod 753024h module which provides the GMT complication. It is good that there is a 24 hour dial on the chapter ring. The watch is a relatively nice especially for those who are the fans of the brand.

Blancpain Tourbillon Diamants WatchThe Blancpain Specialites Tourbillon Diamants is at the top of the luxury timepieces which makes it clear to me from its appearance alone that diamonds is the theme. It is really not easy to guess how complex the pattern actually is. This watch has too much to it than the overwhelming presence of precious jewels.

This Specialites Tourbillon Diamants has same complex patterning even on the rear of the watch, considering an impressive jewel work in the 40mm wide white gold case with the count of over 20 carats of diamonds. With 571 stones totaling 14.15 carats the white gold three-piece case is set and the dial adds another 5.17 carats and 164 diamonds. With 29 jewels with a 168-hour power reserve, the automatic caliber 25A tourbillon movement is composed of 238 components. The price tag of this diamond splendor is $1,342,700.

Blancpain Specialites Tourbillon Diamants watch:

1)    40mm wide 18k white gold watch case
2)    Caliber 25A in-house automatic mechanical movement visible through sapphire caseback
3)    Flying tourbillion carriage window
4)    Baguette-cut diamonds on dial with total 20.14 carats of diamonds on watch
5)    Reptile strap with matching 18k gold diamond covered buckle

So, I think this diamond splendor is an amazing watch but the price is too high for me.
