Good news! At a Chicago electronics store, these Windows 7 retail boxes turned up yesterday on Oct 5, 2009. Window 7

Windows 7, the latest version of Microsoft Windows is a series of operating systems produced by Microsoft for its use on computers which includes business and home netbooks, desktops, laptops, media center PCs and tablet PCs. Windows 7 was launched to manufacturing on July 22, 2009 with the availability for October 22, 2009 that is less than three years after the release of Windows Vista, its predecessor.

It is not like its predecessor who has a huge number of new features; Windows 7 is intended with the aim of being fully compatible with hardware and applications with which Windows Vista is compatible already. Microsoft gave the presentations in 2008 focused on a new Windows Shell with a new taskbar, multi-touch support, a home networking system known as HomeGroup as well as performance improvements. Few applications that included with prior releases of Microsoft Windows includes Windows Calendar, Windows Movie Maker, Windows Photo Gallery and Windows Mail, will not be included in Windows 7.

Features of Windows 7:

The features of Windows 7 are pervasive across the system from low-level aspects as the supported characters in NTFS file names to high-level aspects as the selection of themes and backgrounds. But there are some features also that are critical for best support of the world’s many cultures and languages.

Fonts:

Writing and language are at the heart of any culture and therefore support for fonts is necessary to support international users. Windows 7 raises both the quality and range of fonts significantly.

If you are waiting for the Apple tablet then you may be waiting for the wrong device as a real device Courier is coming soon that Microsoft’s astonishing take on the tablet.

Microsoft tabletActually, Courier is a booklet, not a tablet. The dual 7-inch screens are multi touch and designed for flicking, writing and drawing with a stylus in addition to fingers. A hinge connects them and holds a single iPhone-esque home button. Statuses are displayed with the rim of one of the screens just like battery life and wireless signal. A camera is on the back cover and might charge through an inductive pad.

Courier was a hidden project inside Microsoft. Therefore, only few engineers and executives those who were working on it, knew about it.

The Courier is the exact opposite of the Apple tablet. It is complex: dual screens, a mash up of a pen-dominated interface with so many types of multi touch finger gestures as well as multiple graphically complex themes, applications and modes. Microsoft’s tablet heritage is digital ink-oriented, and this is something that I have seen before. It works with the Surface touch computer and the Zune HD.

I am sure that it will hit the market before or after Apple’s tablet come to the market. Judging by the Surface, Windows 7 and Zune HD accomplishments, a Microsoft tablet could be another game from the Windows maker that will be nice to play with.

So, would you like to buy an Apple-branded tablet or the one from Microsoft? Which one will be more user-friendly and why? What do you think about a Microsoft’s tablet? Just share your thoughts here with me.

Where Microsoft may find a bit rougher is in the consumer market, where Windows 7’s adoption may be slow due to a predecessor product. That predecessor product was Windows Vista.

Windows 7 is the successor to Windows Vista. It will incorporate touch technology from Microsoft’s Surface tabletop computer. Windows 7′s multi touch software can enable and laptop, PC, desktop users to use their fingers to zoom in and out of photos, draw pictures on-screen, zip quickly through slideshows, search and skim maps, and even play an on-screen piano. You should know what 64-bit gets you, when you are deciding to move up to a 64-bit operating system.
