A cute Robotic baby simulator is born in Japan

Posted by admin On December - 19 - 2009

Robotic-baby-simulatorYou might have seen a newly born baby of humans. But now, you will see a robotic baby simulator called Yotaro with and interactive screen for a face. Robots have broken the stereotype of being associated with tough, strong and battle-ready, but still a cute like a baby was to come until the robotic baby simulator, Yotaro was born.

The University of Tsukuba in Japan has created this strange, lead by hiroki kunimura. Yotaro is an interactive robot that portrays a number of facial movements, expressions and physiological characteristics like a real baby.

This device reacts to you through a sophisticated emotion-control system that watches and senses what they are doing and provides an accompanying reaction to you. That cute baby can do a number of things that this simulator can do, make it more sophisticated than the standard baby training dolls such as crying real tears on its 2-D face. The yotaro still requires a bit of imagination to see it as a real baby.

So, would you like to see this small and cute baby, Yotaro?

Panasonic’s Robotic Bed Transformable into Wheelchair

Posted by admin On September - 18 - 2009

We human beings are very lazy. I don’t know about all but I am too much! I hate to walk from my bed to my computer. I think Panasonic knows my problem that’s why a leader of electronics technology, Panasonic Corporation has announced the development of a bed-shaped robot which is transformable from a bed into a wheelchair with me staying in bed or wheelchair.

Robotic BedThe bed-shaped robot is designed to help me with mobility maintain an independent lifestyle, expanding their mobility and reducing the need for assistance. At the 36th International Home Care and Rehabilitation Exhibition (H.C.R. 2009), Panasonic will exhibit this new robot at Tokyo Big Sight from September 29 to October 1, 2009.

The aim of this Panasonic Corporation is to bring about safe, secure and comfortable living as it is necessary for those who require assistance for their living activities to secure a safe and comfortable way to move on their own to live an independent life.
It needs physical exertion to lift and move a person from the bed to a wheelchair and therefore there are risks of dropping and injuries. The bed-shaped robot offers you the solution for both problems.

Benefits of Panasonic’s Robotic Bed are:

•    Eliminates the need for the user to transfer between the bed and a wheelchair
•    Eliminates the burden and risks associated with the transfer
•    Can also expand the user’s range of activities
•    The user can enjoy the food by converting the bed into a wheelchair and moving to the dining table without the need of assistance from other people
•    Automatically separates or restores certain components
•    The robot can detect obstacles and people in its way to safely guide the user to avoid collisions

Hmm…this would definitely very helpful for us. Thanks to Panasonic who has developed such a great product.

Taizo the Robot teaches Grandpa how to do exercise

Posted by admin On September - 14 - 2009

Researchers from the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) unveiled a new humanoid robot on Thursday that is designed to lead the elderly in physical exercises.Taizorobot

As we all know that good robots have done very amazing activities for us like they serve us drinks, they build our cars, they teach our young children but now they have done a great job by helping our oldsters with the physical therapy. Taizo, which means “calisthenics”, stands over 24-inches tall and weighs 15.5 pounds is a delightful chap, along with a bulbous visage as well as a fun, plushy space suit. This robot has a friendly appearance and designed to motivate elderly people to engage in more physical exercise and operates for about two hours on a single charge.

Taizo robot has great features of:

•    Voice recognition
•    A library of thirty different exercises
•    24-inches or 70-centimeter tall
•    Weighs 15.5 pounds
•    Dressed in a velvety space suit
•    Sporting a goofy grin

The most important thing about Taizo is that it has very basic language skills that are enough to understand and has simple spoken commands and they lead a group in exercise.

The 7-kilogram mechanical exercise instructor with 26 joints in its body can smoothly demonstrate around 30 different moves for others to imitate. And also while sitting in a special chair, Taizo does most of its exercises but it can also stand up to perform some nice activities. The developers are planning to start selling and renting also the robots next year for around 800,000 yen ($8,000 approx) each.

Robot Grasshopper with Beautiful Wings can Fly!

Posted by admin On August - 28 - 2009

Here is interesting news that I am providing you today related to ROBOT. You might have seen real grasshopper but I have brought a grasshopper for you in my article which is a robot not a real.

grasshopperA 7 gram Robot Grasshopper was capable of jumping a distance of 1.4 meters few months back. One advantage about jumping was that it combined advantages of being on the ground with the most important advantages of being able to fly – obstacle avoidance. Other advantage of being able to fly is that you can cover large distances efficiently and quickly. Jumping a distance of 1.4 meters was very big for such a small robot. But a new feature has been added to it that is Wings. The robot is now a very efficient mover also by using reduction gears and legs that act as springs.

By adding another feature of real grasshopper anatomy i.e. wings, guys at EPFL’s Laboratory of Intelligent Systems have made their robot grasshopper into a great flier.

Wings are made of mylar, carbon and shape memory muscles. Therefore, their wings are controllable and towards sources of light, the robot is able to steer itself. These wings will be extendable and retractable like a real grasshopper. When integrated with the jumping legs and some solar panels then you have got a cheap, tiny and efficient robot capable of covering large distances over just about any sort of terrain by gliding, jumping, landing and by repeating.

Sad thing is that the robot is still in the process of development and currently it does not have any brain cells and as of now, the wings and body are not really able to work together. The researchers at EPFL’s Laboratory of Intelligent Systems are still working on it to grow its functions. It will also have a pair of jumping legs as well as solar panels when it is fully integrated. Eventually, the wings will also be extendable and retractable. It will also have a small on board battery which will provide energy for about 300 jumps at the intervals of 3 seconds.

I think it will be a great time to own this robot and travel around with it.
