The Complete Blog On Technology

googlechromespr03Rumours in the press were scattered regarding the launch of Chrome OS based netbooks at Computex, but now, Acer officially confirms that it will not launch a Chrome OS device at Computex or it has no short-term plans for such type of a product.

Acer believes that Google Chrome OS is without doubt an exciting product announcement and it deserves its full attention and also an in-depth study of its potential from a users perspective.

Acer is naturally interested in any service or product that scale up the complete experience of its products and will definitely be following the progress and development of Google Chrome and the evolution of Google’s overall product strategy very closely.

So, any comment you want to give? If yes, then please give it here.

Lenovo ThinkPad LI have used my friend’s Lenovo laptop and wanted to buy that product. But today, my friend told me that Lenovo is introducing a new Series of ThinkPad: the L Series, so look for that one. While it may look like the ThinkPad R Series which will replace, Lenovo says the 14-inch L412 and 15-inch L512 are the greenest ThinkPads ever made. They are 40 percent more power efficient than “other laptops”, besides that, they are partially made from recycled office water jugs as well as miscellaneous used equipment.

Lenovo ThinkPad L Series includes the following:

1.Core i3 or i5 CPU options
2.With integrated or ATI Radeon graphics
3.A Celeron P4500 CPU
4.160GB hard drive
5.1GB of RAM

The ThinkPad L412 and L512 laptops are designed for government, business and education customers, feature high performance with the new Intel processing technologies, strong web conferencing and military tough durability features in an affordable laptop starting under $700.

Additionally, by integrating the highest amounts of post consumer recycled content, the laptops are the greenest on the market.

So, I am waiting for its shipping which I expect to be in early next month.

Gateway ZX4800-06 Powerful Budget All-in-One

Posted by admin On April - 5 - 2010

Gateway ZX4800-06The Gateway ZX4800-06 is the more powerful budget all-in-ones I have looked at. It is an attractive system, some elements of the user experience are less polished than they could be.

Gateway instead built the ZX4800-06 around a 2.2GHz Pentium Dual Core processor. As the processor is dated, it did help the ZX4800-06 earn a WorldBench 6 score of 84. By comparison, the Athlon X2-powered MSI Wind Top AE2010 produced a mark of 60.

The ZX4800-06 features:

A 20-inch
16:9 widescreen display

The ZX4800-06 is no gaming powerhouse. It achieved rates no higher than 8 frames per second in our gaming tests with its integrated Intel GMA X4500HD graphics chip. That kind of frame rate is low, but it is not out of the ordinary for such PCs, which are designed for home users who just need to get online, do some light word processing, watch videos or browse photos.

Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) runs smoothly on the ZX4800′s 4GB of RAM and has ample room to roam thanks to the spacious, 750GB hard drive. Most of the other budget all-in-ones I have looked at have hard-drive sizes around 320GB, therefore, I was pleased to see this much storage included with the ZX4800-06.

Upgrade Your Laptop’s Hard Drive to SSD

Posted by admin On April - 2 - 2010

rv-laptop-ssd-2If you want to speed up your laptop and lengthen its battery life then swap the hard disk drive out for a speedy solid-state drive.

Solid-state drives (SSDs) are all the rage. Since, SSDs have no moving parts, they are more shock-resistant and rugged than standard hard drives and that makes them perfect for laptops that get bumped around a bit.

Though their write performance varies, they offer great read performance, also, random small writes  can be very fast, but long writes of large block data can be slower than on traditional hard drives ((as you might have with continuous video recording).

But, upgrading to a solid-state drive is not as easy as purchasing a drive and throwing it in your PC. Here are a few tips for picking out the right model, making sure that it will work with your setup, carefully cloning your old drive, and keeping the install process clean and painless. (Don’t forget to read “How to Switch to a Solid-State Drive” for more advice.)

Solid-state drives come in two major types: MLC (multi-level cell) and SLC (single-level cell). An  MLC drive stores two or more bits per cell and an SLC SSD stores data as one bit per flash memory cell. As a result, MLCs are less expensive than SLCs at the same capacity point, since you require fewer physical flash memory components for greater capacity. The downside is that MLC drives are slower than SLC units, though usually still much faster than regular hard drives.

You’ll typically find SLC drives in workstation-class environments and data centers, where the greater cost is mitigated by gains in reliability and productivity.

SimmtronicsSimmbookFor a few months now, Simmtronics’ Simmbook netbook has been floating around but it’s only gotten a considerable boost thanks to a partnership with Canonical and IBM, who have teamed up with the company in an effort to bring the laptop to growing and competitive markets. Right now, it is available in only South Africa, Thailand India  and Vietnam. But, the Simmtronics has plans to bring the Simmbook to the developed countries like US, UK and France in few months.

Their confluence means the netbook will run on Ubuntu Netbook Remix and come pre-loaded with IBM’s Client for Smart Work and that includes Lotus Symphony and access to many cloud-based services. As for the netbook itself, it is about as basic as you might expect, including the usual Atom N270 processor, 10-inch display, three-cell battery, 1GB of RAM and a 160GB hard drive along with a few upgrades available.

Then again, it is available off-the-shelf for only $200 and IBM and Simmtronics are apparently working with many clients to offer the netbook at “a competitive price” to other countries around the world.

Innovative concept Smartbook has diverse uses

Posted by admin On March - 20 - 2010

InnovativeconceptSmartbookYou know why devices like iPad and other tablets exist? The reason is to satisfy this urge in us to stay connected to the web world. New touchscreen phones also carry the same incentive, but both the devices have one flaw – tablets lack an external keyboard and phones lack the screen real estate. I have the really innovative Smartbook to bridge the gap. A Smartphone that flips open to become a QWRTY keyboard and syncs with its personalized PC Tablet.

This tablet until has diverse uses which basically works as a PC. The unit can display both in landscape or portait mode with an installed gravity sensor, . The function is very useful while reading eBook content. The screen size is 7 inches, to accomodate both viewing and portability.

Even though the tablet PC and a Qwerty keyboard unit are two seperate units but they can be charged simultaneously when they InnovativeconceptSmartbook_1contact through the magnet. Syncronized recharge solves the recharging problem of the split body units. Each unit can be recharged separately. They are smart enough to interchange power when one unit needs to be recharged.

The smartbook consists of two units: a tablet PC and a Qwerty keyboard. The tablet PC unit has a prop on the backside for better support. Either Android OS or Chrome OS is insatalled on the devices. It provides a rich computing experience with the detachable keyboard and a touch interface unit offers more convenient input. Both units are held together by a magent.

Updated Archos 13 laptop coming out in next month

Posted by admin On March - 18 - 2010

Archos 13In June 2009, the Archos 13 had been announced at the conference, was scheduled for late summer. But, to date, that is to say almost 6 months later, the Archos 13 is still out.

But Archos has distributed pamphlets at CeBit in which a new Archos 13 is announced for April 2010  which is a new version. Unfortunately, complete details about it are still a bit light but the revised model will sport that always desirably “classy look,” with an Atom D510, Windows 7 Home Premium for an OS and a 13.3-inch display.

But sorry, as no word available on its pricing yet, but the original Archos 13 came in at an even $800.
