Worlds-largest-shipI was really impressed by the ship ‘Titanic’ after watching Titanic movie. It was the largest ship till now, but another ship has come which is five times larger than the Titanic. But the world has to wait as this ship is slated to go to Costa Maya, Mexico between May 2010 and November 2010.

“Oasis of the Seas”, the world’s largest ship is finally finished. Richard D. Fain took the ownership of the $1.4-billion Oasis of the Seas on the southwest coast of this nation. This ship includes seven neighborhoods, a 750-seat outdoor amphitheater, an ice rink and a golf course.

The Oasis of the Seas is known as NB-1363 and is so tall that she requires a retractable smokestack or funnel to duck under bridges like the Great Belt Bridge in Denmark and the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge in New York. With the vivid fantasy of Disney, the ship mingles the glitter of Las Vegas and is expected to have the useful life of 30 to 40 years.

In entertainment options, the ship has to offer two rock-climbing walls, scuba-diving lessons, two surfing simulation wave makers, four pools and a basketball court are a few of them that aim as a sedentary holiday at vanquishing the notion of cruising. The world’s largest ship also includes the features of an elegant piazza with shopping as well as restaurants; Pilates and a spa host’s yoga, teeth whitening and botox treatments.

By any measure, Oasis is a jaw-dropper. The gross tonnage is 44% larger than the next biggest ships- Royal’s Freedom of the Seas and sister vessels. Oasis will carry 5,400 passengers at double occupancy with 2,160 crew members and up to 6,300 passengers when extra beds are filled.
STX Europe’s senior vice president and director of the shipyard, Teppo Raitis said “The ship is not only the biggest but also the most modern and the most green” He also adds that “It represents 1.7 million design hours. That’s 1,000 man-years”.

Wow! The voyager is bigger than any biggest of the past era and I think the world might not see anything bigger than this.
