Diamond has always been a weakness of every woman. Now-a-days! It has become a fashion that a groom gifts a diamond ring to his bride. So, I think every woman and man should know about the latest Diamond, ‘Vivid pink’. A pink diamond, rare and 5-carat pink color diamond was auctioned off on Tuesday for a record $11.7 million or $USD10.8 million in Hong Kong.
Vivid Pink” 5 Carat diamond putting some shine back into the large stones market and the world’s rare that was badly hit by the financial crisis. The stone of a “vivid pink” is perfect but not flawless, triggered brisk bidding in Christie’s autumn sales of Chinese and Asian art in Hong Kong. The auctioning smashed all previous price records that set in Geneva 15 years ago for a 19.66 carat stone, sold for $USD 7.4 million.
The pink gem’s per-carat with the price of $USD 2.2 million was also the highest paid for any diamond at auction. Christie’s Europe chairman, Francois Curiel said – they have sold a million dollars a carat for colored diamonds but we have never sold a stone for $USD 2 million a carat. So, this is a great record that is not going to be broken for a while.
The “Wittelsbach” blue diamond is the world’s most expensive jewel that ever sold at auction. This is a 17th-century deep grayish-blue stone that priced $USD 24 million last year but top pink and red gemstones are also known for stratospheric valuations.
Hmmm…I really want to have this pink-pink diamond to gift my girl friend. But don’t know when my dream will come true.
