I am ready and I am very excited for my first trip in the first ‘Green Plane’, but when? The answer of my question is still not known by anyone. Southwest Airlines builds or u can say its latest offering is the planet’s first green plane but it and you are still away from the most enjoyable flight in the US.
Jet engines spew out huge quantities of carbon and flying as the most energy inefficient way to travel. But still from trying to paint a green tint on their fuselages, it has not stopped airlines.
On Oct. 21, Southwest Airlines unveiled the concept that the concept include something to make the plane more eco-friendly like a standard Boeing 737-300 with many interior modifications. The first green plane will incorporate modular carpet from Interface in which the carpet is 100 percent recyclable; after it becomes worn and torn. The carpet can be returned to Interface and can be remanufactured in a completely carbon-neutral process.
Southwest Airlines will test two kinds of green leather seat covers that are more durable and lighter than traditional airplane seat covers. One is e-Leather which is made from recycled materials discarded by leather manufacturers. Another improvement will be a life vest pouch which is one pound lighter per passenger. The pouch will be leaving more room under seats for carry-on items and it will also be smaller.
Many other small changes include:
• Aluminum seat parts will replace less durable plastic parts
• In the seat fillings, the inclusion of lighter foam will add up to a five pound per seat weight reduction.
• Total weight savings will be roughly 472 pounds per plane and according to China View, it is equal to roughly a 9,500 gallon reduction in jet fuel used per plane over the course of a year.
I am not sure this green bird will take her first voyage and I hope a few others are hatched in the near future. So, are you ready to travel in it?
