T-Mobile BlackBerry 9700, seen in the wild

Posted by Yogesh Kumar On August - 12 - 2009

I think now I should travel more and more. I remember the time when I traveled somewhere and javelin (Curve 8900) was unavailable. But this time I can get some precious moments of hands-on time with the device T-Mobile BlackBerry 9700.

Wow!! What a device is this? I have already seen the BlackBerry “onyx” (9020 device) and I concluded from it that it was the amazing traditional BlackBerry. But it has a trackpad but slap a T-Mobile logo on it. The device was spotted by the folks at Crackberry in the wild, sporting silver chrome vs. charcoal (could be that AT&T will get the charcoal version) and the leather back on the battery door. I also found it different in the hand compared to my previous hand set.

The BlackBerry 9700 is the new model number for the BlackBerry Onyx. Therefore, BlackBerry 9700 is pretty much identical to what I have been seeing in the latest smartphones. Its specifications are:

•    Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE
•    3.2 megapixel AF camera
•    480×360 resolution display
•    QWERTY keyboard
•    UMTS/HSDPA
•    OS 5.0
•    Wi-Fi a,b,g
•    Bluetooth

I will say anything more here but with that branding it’s not long before heading into the consumer channels. So, AT&T friends AT&T friends, no need to worry as I am sure your GSM-equipped 9700 is just around the corner also.
