Yesterday! I came to know from my friend that Archos had teased an Android-based phone
when it launched the new Archos 5 Internet Tablet.

Archos_phoneComplete details of the smartphone are not clear, but the ARCHOS Phone Tablet will sport an 854 x 480 resolution, a 4.3-inch touchscreen means slightly smaller, but slightly higher resolution, than the Archos 5 and run on a 1GHz Cortex processor in 10mm thick titanium casing with looks like a front-facing camera and that is less than half an inch.

The Archos Phone Tablet is a 3.5G-enabled version of the Archos 5 that adds HSUPA/ HSDPA connectivity to the PMP’s existing Bluetooth and WiFi b/g/n. It also has its PMP-sibling’s slender build and a brief rear glimpse showed a camera lens.

I know what you are expecting about its internal memory. Well! Archos will offer you the same 16GB, 32GB and 64GB flash versions as the Archos 5. It has the potential as a MID/Smartphone crossover device.

There are number of devices in the market but the upcoming Archos 5 Internet Tablet has a microphone and voice capabilities, only able to make calls using VoIP over Wi-Fi. Let’s hope the Archos Phone Tablet will be available through mobile carriers.
