The HD 3D drumbeat continues with broadcasters around the world pushing forward 2010 plans to bring 3D home HDMI that has updated the course of its newest 1.4 spec to ensure compatibility between boxes and displays.
Existing cable and satellite hardware will not to be held to the similar requirements as videogame and Blu-ray equipment rocking the 3D sticker. Expecting compatibility with displays is on the way, since they will not be passing the same high bandwidth, high quality dual-stream 1080p images anyway.
To officially support “Top/Bottom” 3D transmissions, some broadcasters are pushing for HDMI that they plan to use that sacrifice resolution while saving bandwidth by shoving right/ left images into a single frame.
This should add a complete new angle to the line counting and claims of “HDLite” all viewers can do is wait when or if their hardware will get a software upgrade to 3D just like the one I expect will allow the PS3 to play 3D Blu-ray discs in the years and months to come, once there is a standard all can adhere to obviously.
