This newly developed technology is a part of Accelerated Technology Assessment and Commercialization (ACTC) programme, which is being jointly supported by DRDO and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).

According to the company release, it is a 4,000 MW Ultra Mega Power Project by Reliance Power in Sasan, where it will use super-critical technology which is efficient & environment friendly. This power project has been registered with the Clean Development Mechanism Executive Board (CDM-EB) of United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

The specific registration with CDM-EB will allow this Sasan-based power project to earn certified emission reduction (CER) credits, each equaling to one tonne of CO2.

The release also stated that this Ultra Mega Power Project by Reliance Power will produce roughly 22.5 million CERs in its initial ten years of operation with the projected incremental profits from the trade of CERs of over Rs. 2K crore.

The CERs can be bought and sold, and will result in vital additional revenue for the super-critical Ultra Mega Power Project (UMPR). Just a few days back, the TSA started examining the technology at Las Vegas McCarran International Airport and shortly will start testing it at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

Federal officials argued that this newly developed technology will boost the effectiveness as employees working in TSA will no longer require viewing passenger-specific images in a detached room.

There are plans to put two video cameras and have a video operator in place to handle them at every centre where first class domestic and national one-day cup matches are to be played from the upcoming season, said, Sultan Rana, the head of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s domestic cricket division.

Yogender Chandolia, the Chairman of MCD Standing Committee, said that he will bring a plan to this effect while presenting the budget estimates of Municipal Corporation of Delhi for FY11-12 at a scheduled meeting in MCD House.

He stated, “We want to ensure longer life for city roads. The plan is to use ready mix concrete technology and pebble machines to build roads which will be 10-12 inches thick. To avoid the problem of digging by various agencies, space will be kept on the sides for utilities.”

He added that if the plan gets passed by the MCD House, work can be started by July-August of the present year.

Chandolia also stated that “The initial estimates say the cost might be Rs One crore per km, which may change after final estimates. There will be a 25-year guarantee for the roads. A similar project is in the pipeline in the city of Nagpur.”

According to him, the MCD’s strategy would be to zero in on only 2-3 reputed and experienced companies for the scheme, for which tenders will be invited after it gets the nod from the MCD House.

Chandolia also added that in order to ensure that the quality of roads is maintained, the civic agency plans to start making payment to the contracted companies in installments only after five years.

While talking with some newspersons, he said that in the present year, DRDO would test many fresh missiles, including Agni-5 and other strategic missiles, needed for the Indian Air Force, the Indian Army and the Indian Navy.

He stated that these tests would start in the beginning of February this year itself. Further he added that the need of the hour is to prepare both the private and public industry of India, in order to begin integration of missiles so that the needed amount can be met.
