In the year 2011, another technology took a strong stride that is motion gaming. To start with, Nintendo! Nintendo! Nintendo! It has come across the gaming boundaries and always aims to spearhead the crowd. This time, Nintendo came up with 3DS which is a handheld system which offers glasses-free 3D visuals and the Nintendo Wii U as well. Nintendo Wii U is a console which is a tablet-like controller and asynchronous play. This tablet will enable the users to interact with a screen with the help of the tablet interface.

On the other hand, mobile gaming is still on a high demand. Other than Angry Birds and Cut the Rope, Infinity Blade II has taken a good stride. Some of the other games which came up were Battlefield 3, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and much more. Keeping all this apart, something that kept buzzing in the year was Gamification. It is a process wherein there is a procedure of adding game such as elements to a service or system like leaderboards, rewards and points. Many brands, TV shows, musicians, sports teams, media companies have integrated game elements into their websites so as to enhance user engagement. Those users who are engaged with Gmail through iPad or Android will immediately distinguish the interface. The design has been made user-friendly and is inspired by the email service’s mobile web apps. As per Google‘s Official Gmail Blog, those users who have higher-resolution screens are expected to get the advantages out of this feature.

India and China to Fuel IT Growth in Coming Decade

A new report has stated that the India and China are quickly coming up as new tech powerhouses, and will eventually fuel the growth of Information Technology over the next 10 years.

Forbes magazine said while quoting a recent Global Information Technology Report by the World Economic Forum, that even though in present situation there is a huge gap between these emerging markets and developed nations, it will narrow down in the coming ten years.

138 countries were tracked and ranked by the extensive use of Internet, personal computers, mobile phones as well as IT infrastructure and regulatory environment, India ranked 48th, while China was ahead at 36th.

Amongst other Asian countries, which scored high in the rankings, Singapore excelled at the second place whereas Taiwan, Korea and Hong Kong came at 6th, 10th and 12th place respectively.

After examining the inclination in the initial public offerings, Forbes noted that China had accounted for 22 of the 61 venture-backed companies which went public in the US last year. Moreover, India also got itself listed on the IPO map with the successful NASDAQ listing of MakeMyTrip (an India-based travel firm) on online travel start-up.

Recently, Canara Bank, which is also one of the leading public sector banks, announced that it has launched four technology products, enabling cashless services.

A company release from the Canara Bank stated that the Canara Bank Platinum Debit Card, which is a premier version Debit Card, which is being provided to several of its customers, offers various benefits compared to a normal debit card for the first class segment customers. The customer having this card can easily withdraw maximum Rs. two lakh per day. Along with this, the card also provides a complementary insurance cover to the card holder and Global Customer Assistance Service which is being provided by VISA/MasterCard.

Then there is one Canara Campus Card, which is a co-branded debit card and launched in association with the educational institutions. This card is to be issued to students of recognized institutions in order to make the progress of payment of fees smooth. Students can also use this card as a normal debit card to make payment in other merchant locations/ATMs.

A new Bill Payment Facility has also been introduced by the bank that enables Net Banking Account Holders to make 80+ types of utility bill payments online by clicking the link provided in the Bank’s online portal. However, in case of some of the billers, the customers need to register themselves first in order to proceed to make payments.

Mumbai Gets The New Sony Media Technology Centre

Sony has teamed up with the Whistling Woods International (WWI) to set up the Sony Media Technology Centre (SMTC) at their campus in Mumbai. Since past few years, motion picture industry of India has been booming, with over thousands of movies getting released annually, which is the highest in any part of the world. But, still many of the Indian movies are created using celluloid. Through the SMTC facility, Sony has aimed to provide its expertise in High Definition (HD) and 3D films & broadcast technologies. Moreover, it also wants to put more focus on the development of these technologies in the entertainment industry of India.

By the end of financial year 2011-2012, Sony is looking forward to generating approx. USD12 billion from 3D-related product businesses, which also include consumer and professional games and products. ‘Laser’ The Conventional Technology

Recently, the conventional laser technology has completed its 50 years since it was brought into use. To honor the occasion, the Raman Science Center (RSC) has declared that it will set up a short-term exposition to showcase the wonders of this extraordinary technology.

The exposition is scheduled to start on an auspicious Indian National Science Day which is on 28th February, and then it would be on display for the up-coming 45 days.

Shrikant Pathak has been assigned as the project coordinator, and while speaking on the marvels of Laser, he stated, “This is one invention that has given solutions even before the problems arose. There are so many wide avenues where this technology is already being utilized, yet there are many yet to be discovered. There is immense possibility that laser gives to the world of science.”

Laser technology has contributed a lot in our lives, whether it is in entertainment field, or the communication one, and even in the defence, and scientists have even used this exceptional technology in many devices and equipment which are well known for their functionality.
