There are millions of people who are known amongst their peers for the rough handling of their phones, such as dropping them on the floor or even water. Such acts can spell disaster for Smartphones, with the damage to the touch-sensitive screen being the biggest concern for all users. Now, Motorola has launched a Smartphone, Defy, which can battle the elements – namely water, impact and dust – to considerable extent with utmost easy. Certainly, Motorola Defy will have a huge following the times to come.

Motorola Defy

Motorola Defy sports a 3.7” capacitive touchscreen that is graced with four feather-touch keys placed on the bottom. The phone is extremely tough and covered completely so that no dust or water can enter the body, thereby providing the basis for water-resistant and dust-proof. The claim of impact-proof is not official, but tests have shown that it can withstand general falls better as compared to other Smartphones. And, Corning’s Gorilla Glass Display provides it the tough screen that is scratchproof, thereby making it ideal for those who are prominent rough users of phones. This phone is secured by screws from the sides, and the micro-USB and 3.5mm headphone jack are covered by rubber flaps to disallow entry of water. The rubbery-plastic used on the back does not allow the water to stick to the body, thereby providing extra water-resistance, and the back-flap is, obviously, tightly closed.

Now, coming to the specifications, this phone runs on Android 2.1 OS, with a 2.2 update scheduled for Q2 2011. This ergonomically designed phone can be availed in white or black color at a price of Rs. 17,000 across India. The 5MP camera with autofocus and flash is not the best feature of the phone, just like the absence of a front camera. But, the responsive screen, fast 800MhZ processor, EDGE, GPRS, 3G, Bluetooth v2.1, Wi-Fi and 1540mAh Li-Po battery do justice to the price tag.

The bottom line is that though there are various other phones available with similar or better features, there will be none as sturdy and reliable as this one, especially with an Android Froyo OS.

An interesting thing came out to me about Motorola’s DEXT launch yesterday in Singapore. CNET Asia had sit down with Moto’s Asia Pacific VP Spiro Nikolakopoulos, who committed that in 2010, the company would launch between 20 to 30 Android phones globally.

Spiro Nikolakopoulos also said that not all phones would make it to all market, so they are guessing the true number will be more than 10 if we count regional variants like the DEXT and the CLIQ as one model, Moto is already close: off the tops of the heads we have heard of the Devour, the Shadow, the Ruth, the Backflip and many others destined for China.

So, just wait and watch for Motorola’s Android phones that how they will perform in the market.

Yeah! I have found an amazing news about Motorola phone that for the upcoming Motorola Morrison, the folks at Android and Me have gotten a hold of the spec list. The purported spec list that just leaked out is looking nice. Motorola’s newest slider has the same setup as the myTouch, HTC G1 and Hero.

In 2009, Motorola will have two new Android smartphones on sale this holiday season. One is the Sholes and second is the Morrison. But as compare to Sholes, the Morrison, a pretty solid little smartphone will be a budget handset. Here, the Morrison is one of T-Mobile’s future Android phones. It will apparently sport a 528MHz Qualcomm processor, just like the G1. It also has 256 MB of RAM, which is head-and-shoulders above the G1 and 512 MB of flash memory.

The Motorola Morrison comes with Motorola, microSDHC support (32GB), a 320×480 HVGA display, ambient light sensor, magnetometer, an accelerometer, proximity sensor, and a 5 MP camera with autofocus, Geotagging, white balance and video recording. It also has a GPS, WiFi and 3G support.

The Morrison will offer number of benefits over the myTouch 3G.

• CPU: Qualcomm MSM7201A 528 MHz
• Accelerometer: 3-axis, Four-way screen rotation
• Camera Features: Autofocus, White Balance, Geotagging, Color Effects
• Flash Rom: 512 MB
• Memory Card Type: microSDHC, Class 6, 32 GB supported (max)
• Memory: 256MB RAM
• Display: 320×480 (HVGA)
• Camera Resolution: 5 megapixels
• Proximity Sensor
• Ambient Light Sensor
• Magnetometer
• USB: USB 2.0 High Speed, Micro USB connector
• Wireless Lan: 802.11 b/g, WEP, WPA, 802.11i (WPA2)
• Image Capture Resolution (max): 2560×1920
• Bluetooth Profiles: A2DP, AVRCP, GAP, HFP 1.5, HSP, SDAP, SPP
• Video Recording Frame Rate: 25 fps
• Video Recording Resolution: 320×240 (QVGA)
• Camera Digital Zoom (max): 5.4x
• Email Protocols: POP3, IMAP4, Exchange ActiveSync
• Headset Jack: 3.5mm, Stereo out, Mic
• Email Attachment Support: QuickOffice v2 Viewer formats
• Location Services: Standalone GPS w/ internal antenna, Assisted GPS, E-Compass

Latest rumors about the Morrison hitting by the end of the year, has not been announced official yet but it has been already leaked to the Internet. It may possible that this phone will come under $100 with a 2 year plan. So, you want an Android Motorola smart phone you have to wait like me for a while. I am very sure that this phone is counts as a kid’s smartphone. Shitt!!
