Lexus debuts LFA supercar arena with $375k at Tokyo Motor Show

At the Tokyo Motor Show on Wednesday, Lexus has unveiled a new Lexus two-seat supercar. In 2005, it was unveiled for the first time at the Detroit Auto Show. By early 2011, the Lexus LFA is expected to run on the road.

Lexus LFAThe LFA supercar arena includes the features a 4.8-liter V10 with 560 ps (552 bhp), a zingy 9,000 rpm redline, 354 lb-ft torque and six-speed sequential gearbox. The car can hit a top speed of 202 mph and 0-62 mph in 3.7 seconds.

If you are in the market for the top exotic sportscar then it used to be that the European automakers such as Porsche, Ferrari and Aston Martin were the only place to go. In the supercar arena, Japan’s carmakers are in the midst of a renaissance. And now Lexus has unveiled a new LFA. With a 3.7-second sprint to 60, a 550-horsepower V10 engine, a top speed in excess of 200 miles per hour, the Lexus LFA is capable of dicing it with the best Europe has to offer.

Sales of these machines are set to go into production next year with limited to just 500 worldwide. The company is describing it as an ultra-responsive and extremely stable even when taken to the edge.

Toyota Motor president Akio Toyoda said that the LFA is a supercar and its driveability was refined on the Nurburgring circuit in Germany. The new Toyota’s luxury Lexus line uses lightweight materials like carbon fibre. The machine has a V10 petrol engine and boasts a top speed of 325 kms per hour with an acceleration of zero to 100 kph in 3.7 seconds.

The sportscar is coming with a price tag of about $375,000 U.S.
