Posted by Kamleshwar Bhatt On November - 18 - 2009

Citroen C-ZeroI am very thankful to those whose idea is this to build such type of car which minimizes emissions and helps in maintaining the environment clean. Yes! i-MiEV e-car has been launched by Mitsubishi during the summer 2009 in Japan. With the French PSA Group, an agreement was signed this autumn to create two sister models based on the i-MiEV for the European market. Towards the end of 2010, Peugeot’s iOn will get its chance. Citroën has dubbed its version the C-Zero.

Citroen C-Zero e-car is a 100 percent electric vehicle and designed for urban use and purely electric driven, it does not use petrol nor emit CO2 gas. Thus, it saves the people and living things from pollution. The car glides quietly along the road. Citroen C-Zero has a state-of-the-art and lithium-ion battery pack stowed amidships, provide juice for a 64bhp synchronous motor. The Citroen e-car has a range of around 130km (80 miles) on a fully charged battery.

The new city car uses a permanent magnet synchronous motor making (47kW) 64bhp between 3,000rpm and 6,000rpm. Its peak power is 180Nm produced between 0 and 2,000rpm and its 330-volt lithium-ion battery comprised of 88 50Ah cells for onboard energy of 16kWh feeds the motor. The complete system works with a single-speed reduction gear transferring power to the rear wheels.

Through a 220V home socket, it takes about 6 hours to fully recharge the batteries, although an 80% charge in 30 minutes is possible via a 400V external station. When the motor gets switched on, Citroen installed a beeper to alert the driver. It is replaced by a battery charge indicator in line with the normal fuel gauge. Other features include electric windows, ABS, ESP air conditioning and six airbags.

During the last quarter of 2010, the Citroën C-ZERO will go on sale and will be followed by a full-hybrid DS5 in 2011.
