Technology Which Can Track Down Your Stolen Laptop

Quick Heal Technologies, one of the best global anti-virus solution providers, has started a new service called Laptop Tracker in the Kerala market, in an effort to help the Indian law enforcement agencies to track down the stolen laptops.

Mr M.J. Srikant, Vice-President, Corporate Communications, Quick Heal Technologies, has stated that this newly launched technology has marked the establishment of a unique synergy among corporate entities and law enforcement agencies.

He added further that the company has also briefed about and discussed the technology with the police authorities.

He also said that this is an effort towards the corporate social responsibility the company has in order to help consumers as well as the law enforcement agencies to track down the stolen laptops all across the country region. He added that “We are keen to get feedback on this emerging technology and the scenario arising there from.”

It is being highly anticipated that this service would help people and law enforcement agencies to trace out a laptop pretty easily if it is lost or misplaced. Moreover, it will also help people to identify whether a second-hand laptop they are planning purchase is the stolen one or not.

Currently, this technology has already been launched in four Indian cities, which include Hyderabad, Indore, Coimbatore, and Jaipur.

Apple iPhone 5 Won’t Support NFC

If the industry sources are to be believed, then Apple’s latest version of iPhone will not support the NFC technology.

The NFC or Near Field Communication technology is the one which allows consumers to contactless payments by just simply waving a device over the reader. This technology is almost similar to the one that is used by the Oyster Card. Any device that consists of a NFC chip can be easily detected by a NFC supported cell phone. It also includes payments, T-shirts and posters, and is considered to be the next big thing in the technology world.

A few months back, the NFC technology was introduced by Google in its recently released Smartphone, Google Nexus S.
But, according to various mobile operators in the UK, Apple is not going to offer or support this technology anymore in its yet-to-be-launched Apple iPhone 5.

According to reliable sources, “The new iPhone will not have NFC, Apple told the operators it was concerned by the lack of a clear standard across the industry.”

It has been reported that the Apple is working on its own technology to take on NFC, and would let the user make payments through iTunes.

Mumbai Gets The New Sony Media Technology Centre

Sony has teamed up with the Whistling Woods International (WWI) to set up the Sony Media Technology Centre (SMTC) at their campus in Mumbai. Since past few years, motion picture industry of India has been booming, with over thousands of movies getting released annually, which is the highest in any part of the world. But, still many of the Indian movies are created using celluloid. Through the SMTC facility, Sony has aimed to provide its expertise in High Definition (HD) and 3D films & broadcast technologies. Moreover, it also wants to put more focus on the development of these technologies in the entertainment industry of India.

By the end of financial year 2011-2012, Sony is looking forward to generating approx. USD12 billion from 3D-related product businesses, which also include consumer and professional games and products.
